Page 9 of 9 I’m fascinated by enlightenment, enough to have pursued meditation for many years – seriously enough to realise it ain’t going to happen to me! The problem is my pathological avoidance of the present moment. Meditation can correct this…
Many spiritual traditions see the world as a realm of pain and illusion. The moment of enlightenment is like a spontaneous rewiring of the psycho-spiritual body enabling true perception. All the prerequisite elements exist, they just need to be connected up in the right configuration and Wallop! Instant nirvana!
So, anyway, this phrase arrived in my head: ‘agiters, miskers and malcos’ – no idea where it came from. Very quickly I discovered Mathias, fighting for truth and freedom in his own realm of pain and illusion. Gaolbreak is about staying in the moment, about being true.
Mathias is much better at it than I.

Editor's note: Mr. D'Lacey recently had a healthy baby girl, er, I mean, his wife had the baby, but he supplied the requisite semen and plenty of robust encouragement and love along the way, I am positive. I'm sure I speak for my colleagues when I say I am proud to have published this and two other pieces by Mr. D'Lacey, and wish him only the best in his future endeavors, both literary and domestic. Bravo, sir!
