Thank you for taking the time to read my submission. I have submitted a cap before to TQR, and rose from The Floor (thank you DeP) to be critiqued by Rocks and Otto, who found my story too boring to elevate further. (I was also chastised mildly for my cover letter. I don't seem to have learned my lesson.)
This cap concerns a tragic romance between two late twenties lovebirds who buy themselves a bonsai tree for their house (which serves as a sort-of metaphor for love and whatnot). One of the duo, Jade, becomes terribly ill with some unknown illness. In parallel to her deteriorating health, the protagonist experiences horrific visions of her turning into some terrible monster, sort of like The Fly. The story serves as a meditation on loss, fear, and alienation. I won't ruin the ending for you.
It's a long one, so I hope you guys don't find it as boring as you found the last. This one has a bit of a plot, at least, and less dialogue. I'm looking forward to reading all about it on the Free Market.
Thank you again.
P. S. I have submitted this story simultaneously to Tin House. Sorry - but what other recourse do you have?
