remember when Percival is like drowning in the river? Wagner ... playing on the soundtrack yo. Percival is all done in, man. Lancelot just pushed him in the water to drown because the knight's of the round table are done for, they've lost their mojo, and their sacred honor. But ... Percival is like, 'Fuck this! I got something more to say!' and he kicks off his armor, which is killing him, and he strives back toward the surface yeah? Like reborn! And where the hell does he find himself? At the threshold of the castle of the Grail! The goddamn Holy Grail. The chalice whereon the lips of Christ partook their last supper, man! The Grail.

What the fuck am I getting at. Shit. I have lost my train. The goodman Grail! Oh yeah.

When Percival broke the surface, he gasped out, "We can't lose hope, Lancelot ... it's all I've (we've?) got!"

And what did this badass Englishman do? He strode across the drawbridge like a motherfukin boss and answered the questions! He got the Grail and the rest is history.

"Percival, I did not know how empty was my soul until you filled it." The grail, man.

Not saying we'll be good enough to find the grail. But goddamn like that stubborn son of a bitch who got Mordred's spear right in his spine, we sure as hell will die trying (if I may speak for all of you on such an important subject ... I mean, it's only dyin'?). Leondegrance! Leondegrance!

In other words, for you investors and staff that don't cotton to the nuances of EXCALIBUR (the goddamn bestest fillum ever made!), if TQR is going to make itself worthy of patronage ie cold, hard cash via patreon, we've gotta shake up our business model in order to make ourselves stand out from the veritable ocean of zines that we are a drop of.

Motto: The speed freaks of the literary world! If you got something better I'd like to see it!

I mean, it's adapt or die! Fuck you, Darwin! Blaze of glory, bitches ... Sundance Kid and Butch Foshizzle. Are we gonna do this or wha?

Not sure what you mean by business model, but TQR already stands out from the veritable ocean of zines that it is but a drop of. Perhaps VCs have not grokked to this difference, or maybe one or another of us has pissed most of them off with our misguided and at times unkind review. Or perhaps they are just too thin-skinned, too lily-livered for anything but bullshit form rejects. "Dear [insert name], Thank you for the opportunity to consider [blah blah blah]. Best of luck [blah blah blah]."

Size doesn't matter. Well... actually, maybe it does. Small is good for what we do. We could not give the careful and captious attention that we are so renowned for to submissions if we were suddenly inundated ala Electric Lit or Glimmer Train or Lightspeed, etc., etc., and, instead, become like all the rest.

Don't go changing,
to try and please me..."

[Rorschalk sighs dreamily and closes his eyes]

Ah, Billy Joel was so dreamy way back when...

I just need someone ... who I can talk to-o-o-o

Dadada da da da da!

To business... now, what you say is for the most part true. We don't want to be deluged. But we could stand a bit more volume! And our turnaround time is already much faster than any other pub that I have ever heard of.

All I am suggesting is we do away with the start times, the cutoffs and the hard breaks.

Make our turnaround time part of the marketing plan, part of the appeal. Say, two weeks from Floor to Suite? If we take away the fetters of Floor one month, Terminal the next month and Suite the 3rd, then we would be a free flowing cap vetting motha... no? Instead of hurrying up to wait, the party would never end!

Very interesting thread here. Twisty; maybe too tightly. I agree fundamentally with both of yas, which is a staggering statement in itself. Boorman's "Excalibur" (not the other one) rides the pinnacle of greatest fillums for sure. I don't mind the concept of loosening our borders, time-wise, but a committed two-week turnaround? No way. We are neither chattel nor cattle to be led through a chute and fed through a machinated grinder (I'm not an industrial robot!). Liken us instead to bespoke butchers who carve with deft intent, and lovingly. How about a Kobe beef metaphor instead?

[In the dank corridors of Rorschalk's terracotta mind comes an unholy alliance of vintage memes (before there were 'memes') starting with Wendy's "Where's the Beef" and lifelock's old bag on the linoleum bitching, "Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!" mingling with a faint harbinger of an old Spike Lee joint title KOBE DOIN' WORK]

Errr, H3. Agree? I don't know what to say... at a lost. Do I hear 3 weeks and a reach around?

Gads, and my processors are flooded with tic-cy recalls of your hot beef buffet (was that us all carved up?) and that part of "Excalibur" in which Lancelot races across the wilderness, voiceover declaring, "But Guinevere--just one night with her!".....redundant then, redundant now.

A month, first through thirtieth. Per cap, starting the top of the month following its arrival. Natch, we will endeavor blah blah blah--our track record speaks to our motivation. But I cannot imagine consulting a calendar for this. It's not like we're selling something and contracted to a specified delivery window. We are not takeout!

[Rorschalk sees Kobe rising, rising, rising up from the foul line, the ball cupped twixt his fingers and forears as those defenders attempting to rise with him are a split second late and a hands breadth short ... as Kobe arcs through the air with power and grace as he culiminates all this beauty by slamming the balls violently through the hoop]

Slam dunk! 30 days max from receipt to dispensation.

[He reaches out for H3K's hand, but realizes his mistake and quickly rescinds it... palms its blinking diode instead]

Deal!

Or what? Doing away with Qs sits okay, but Rox is with H3K on this. We do this for love. Love knows no boundaries. Or is it hate? Whatever. If it gets too busy, just recruit more Terminali. Dep and Boli might need electrify their fence, or make it even higher. But sure, go for it. Let me know when it's my turn.

That is the spirit, old bean!

Now, if only Otto could tear himself away from those 2nd rate strippers...
